Assignment #1

1) One sample of valid logical argument

  • Only certified professional engineers will granted for engineering rings.
  • Jack wears his own engineering ring.
  • Jack must be a professional engineer.

2) Example of logical fallacy

undefined This is a typical “False Dichotomy” fallacy as it limits the options to two, but actually there are other options available. A person who finish exams early could have an emergency that has to leave early; or he/she just spent a long time reviewing exam materials so that he/she can finish it quicker, not necessary because they are smarter. No matter how, offering only two options in a situation like this make the meme a funny logical fallacy.

3) Give a good, brief argument for why Geomatics is the best discipline on Earth.

Only Geomatics can cover sky/land/sea and brings you to anywhere you want! Geomatics is the best option to give you all the luxury at one. People in Geomatics can be out in space (satellite, GPS…), flying in sky (photogrammetry/ UAV…), running on land (conventional survey), digging underground (tunnel survey) and cruising in the ocean (ocean mapping).

  1. I highly agree with your Logical fallacy, as the person who typically finishes tests quickly I can assure you it has nothing to do with how smart I am, just that I write everything down as quickly as I can because I get so nervous I just want the whole experience to be over!
